Douglas Laboratories Stress B Plus 90 tablets
Stress-B-Plus™ is a comprehensive B supplement providing all eight B vitamins plus related nutrients. As water-soluble substances, B vitamins are not generally stored in the body in appreciable amounts (with the exception of vitamin B12). Therefore, the body needs an adequate daily supply of B vitamins. As co-enzymes, B vitamins are essential to most major metabolic reactions, playing important roles in macronutrient metabolism and energy production. Thiamin (as thiamin pyrophosphate) is required for glycolytic and Krebs cycle reactions. Riboflavin is a component of the coenzymes FAD and FMN, which are intermediates in many redox reactions. Niacin (as coenzymes NAD and NADP) is involved in energy production and biosynthetic processes. Pantothenic acid (as a component of coenzyme A and phosphopantetheine) is essential for Krebs cycle operation. Biotin is involved in carboxylation reactions associated with gluconeogenesis, the Krebs cycle and fatty acid synthesis.
Vitamin B6 is a coenzyme in carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism, including the conversions of homocysteine into cysteine. Vitamin B6-dependent enzymes are also needed for the biosynthesis of many neurotransmitters, including serotonin (from tryptophan), dopamine and norepinephrine.
Vitamin B12 is a coenzyme in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, while folic acid serves as an important methyl donor. Both vitamins are necessary for red blood cell formation.
Choline, inositol and para-aminobenzoic acid are important nutrients related to B vitamins. Choline is a methyl donor for homocysteine metabolism, a structural component of cellular membranes as phosphatidylcholine, and a precursor in acetylcholine formation. Inositol aids in cellular responses to hormonal signals and is active in cellular membranes as phosphatidylinositol.
